I have a Dearborn 14-2 model sickle bar mower that a friend has given me to use and I need some help finding a missing part and instruction on installing on a 8n.

Now my friend has never used it or had it on a tractor, so theres no help there.

The missing part I'm looking for is a brace or bracket the attaches to the axle housing and pins to a bar the has a large spring and chain. Looks like it's some type of a shock absorber?

If anyone can help or has a picture of what I need so I can build the part would be great!

Thanks Brian

Unless someone changed it a 14-2 should just use common stabilizer brackets under the rear axle on the fender bolts and a small plate on the rear fender bolt pointing straight back with a 5/8 inch hole for a chain hook to go in, use a stabilizer bar on the left and the breakaway bar on the right bracket, manuals are on Ebay sometimes or a Ferguson brand AEO-A-20 or AEO-B-20 model mower is almost the same if you find a manual for one of those. The later Dearborn 14-15, 14-16 models use more different mounting brackets. Email me if you need more help.

I just today got a dearborn sickle bar mower.
And I have no idea if all the parts are there or not.
I"ll try to get some pictures tomorrow
and maybe ya"ll can tell me more about it.

I do know the front half of the PTO shaft is missing.

A lifelong friend of mine gave it to me and I picked it up today.
I"m gonna buy him an IT-201 manual for his tractor
and help him get his tractor running.
If this sickle bar mower was complete and in good
condition how much would it be worth.

I"ll try to get the model number tomorrow.
I rubbed enough crud off the plate to read the last two numbers.
I think it was 67. Not sure about the 6.
It has a 6 foot sickle bar on it.

I think you are referring to these brackets that attach under your rear axle. The smaller bracket goes on the left side and the larger bracket with the swivel eye goes on the right. Your mower pin attaches to the swivel. third party image

The pins on both brackets are for stabilizer bars. These pics are of a pair that I recently sold on ebay. Winning bid amount was $31.00 with a stipulated shipping charge of $15.00. The only problem is, it's been over a week since the auction ended and the buyer has made zero contact. His feed back is impressive with no negatives ever so I'm assuming he's lost his computer or something like that. I've written him a letter via snail mail. If I get no response to that in the next couple of weeks, they'll be for sale again.

These come up on ebay fairly regularly. Sometimes they sell for more and sometimes they sell for less. For some reason they never seem to get sold when the mower gets sold.

I'm not a Dearborn mower expert, but I believe at least some models also require this toplink bracket.

I also sold this recently and it's paid for and shipped. This one happens to have a broken set screw on the right side, but it sold anyway.
