Got a quote on one of these double rake hitches. The flyer shows it with flotation tires, and the quote came back with it having 5x15 traction implement tires. Not sure if this would make a difference on 1st cut hay, but in 2nd cut haylage, I think there might be some problems with ruts from those narrow tires. What do you folks think? Thanks, Kent.

Are you talking about one of the gooseneck hitches that looks like a hydra swing conditioner, or one of the older style NH units that was just an "L" shaped piece of pipe? Neither one is very heavy, relative to the weight of a tractor. in fact both my dad and neighbor have Kelderman hitches (the gooseneck style) but the neighbor has some steeper ground, he has filled the tires w/ fluid, and put some brackets for suitcase weights on his. they do work nice

Hydra swing type. We are hilly, and sometimes very damp. Our rake will sink in sometimes, and it has 5x15 traction tires. It just seemed odd that the picture in the flyer shows flotation, not traction. Weight is just a little over 700 pounds.

The hitch isn't that heavy and I've never had problems with them rutting the field. There is no additional weight on it but if you want hi-floatation tires thats up to you. They'll sell you what ever you want.....Good luck
