Hi all , I worked all day on the 990 and the 14T . I put new seals and two new bearings in the gearbox and tightened up the roll tension a bit so I think the 990 is good to go but I was having trouble getting the 14 to thread . I think I may have over greased it or had the twine tension wrong because I put new springs on the twine clamps . I finally got it to thread right and tie 20 times in a row . The question I have is about the gearbox on the 14 . The manual calls for 140w gear oil . All I had on hand was 80w90 so that's what I used . Anyone think this will cause any harm ? Thanks ...Randy

I need a manual for the 14T John Deere hay baler. Do you know where I may find one?

Thanks,

Malissa Holt

You might get by with it if its not to hot out when you use it. You would have been better off useing the newer 80W-140 then just the 80W-90.

Hi Old , I knew you'd say that :) I just got lazy yesterday after 3 trips to town I just didn't want to go into town again . I was cover in old and new grease and it's twenty minutes to the auto parts store or the Deere dealer or Wally world . I'm on my way there as soon as I get my butt up from this because I need a pull scale to set the twine tensioners right and check the bill hook tension the baler . Thanks ...Randy

I feel for you and playing with them knotters. I have a 14T that I hope we have set up right but only hay being down and dry will tell on that one. But at least if it doesn't want to work right I have the other baler to use so the hay will get baled one way or the other. I just want about 20 or so square bales any how,for the goats. The other hay will be put up in round bales, which is nicer for feed the horses. Got the 14T hooked up to an Allis WD, the MOCO hooked up to an Oliver 77 the rake hooked up to an Allis C and the NH850 round baler hooked up to an Oliver Super 88. So I guess I'm all set up, I even have back up tractors and back up rake and mowers LOL

Would you believe the best place to get them is from JD dealer. Yep they still have them or can get them if the local dealer doesn't have one on hand. I ordered one just last summer for the one I have
