Horse Drawn Equipment

I have a number of Horse drawn implements (mowers, cultivators, spreaders, etc) that were converted over to use behind a tractor. I would like to convert several of them back to their original horse drawn configuration. I am capable of cobbling something up that would work, but I was wondering if there was a resource on the web that might have information and photos of various horse drawn equipment.

Lehmans Hardware of Kidron Ohio can steer you to an Old Order Amish Craftsman or Mfg.who can provide the Parts or info you need. They have been more than accomidating to me in the past.

Where are you located. This guy lives down the road from where we farm and his father was a collector of horse drawn equipment and a high percentage of it is International. Could probably get some pictures once he has his crops in.

Robert, Subscribe to, or get some old issues of "Small Farmers Journal"(on Ebay) or check out the books written by Lynn Miller (he writes excellent stuff that a beginner (like me) can read and understand). Also as someone allready said, the Amish/Mennonite are a great resource for advice. John

Not aware of anything like that but if you can post good clear close pictures of the conversions with make and model of the implements I am sure that somebody would be able to help you, do you want for as restored or just to work?

I would like to restore and work the equipment. Like I said, I can make poles, etc that will work fine with my team, I was just hoping to have them pulling something that looked like it did when it first came to the farm.

I can't add too much here but I have seen a few restored implements where the pole was painted to match the implement and had the manufacturers name or logo stenciled on. Some of the older implements are pretty difficult to document, about the only clue you might find would be some old black and white photos. One source you might research would be Farm Collector magazine. They do have a website.
