IH toolbar planter sprockets

I've have an older 4 row IH toolbar planter that has three sprockets, and a lever that has 2,3,4 settings??? I purchased the seed plates for sweetcorn with 16 cells for flat seed sweetcorn (plate type recommended by the seed mfgr, C 65-16 or 24 cell) because I don't want the 24 cell that drops the seeds closer to each other...but now which sprocket to use? Also on a previous post I had trouble with a toolbar chain coming off one of the planters....problem was that chain had one more link than the other three...had 56 links should have 55.

Lift the planter up (jack it up or lift it with three point hitch) and turn the drive wheel one revolution and count how many seeds drop.

Measure the circumference of the drive wheel in inches and divide that by how many seeds dropped and you will know what your spacing is.

How's about putting on the center sprocket and check when you start to plant. If it is too thick or too thin, adjust accordingly?
