O.T. Double Crop Beans

Read a article several years ago about someone who Broadcast beans into wheat in spring, early may. When he cut wheat, beans were about 6 inches tall and then took off and grew and was able to get 2 crops in 1 year. I'm near Rock Island ,Ill, too far north to plant after wheat is cut to get 2nd crop. Does anyone know of this being done and does it work?? Sounds feasible but if it works, why aren't lots of people doing this?? I'm sure that they didn't bale straw, would smash down too many bean plants. Looking for a way to make a decent return off of my small farm. Any thots?? Thanks, Chris

I tried beans after taking rye crop off in first of July couple times,both times it didn;t get my costs back. Anyway now I bale the straw instead and make more with it than I can even when doing beans crop regularly. I only plant beans for rotation otherwise wouldn't do them since can't hardly cover cost of planting. In my situaiton straw is more valuable for me as I can make and set my price beans just take what elevator give you.
