New Holland 66 Baler Info

I recently got a New holland 66 baler. The baler had been on the tractor dealers lot for 2 years with no use at all. It needs a GOOD grease job and possibly more than that! I did spin the flywheel and it all turns fine. One thing I did notice is someone had welded one of the knotters on top. Doesn't look too serious but I have no idea til I actually see it tie. The needles are in very good shape, no damange. Overall its in OK shape I would guess. The price was right too... $0 He just wanted it gone.

Anyway there is something I would like to know. The PTO shaft does not turn the flywheel. It trys to catch but didn't. I took the center bolt out to remove it and it looks like there are 2 pins in there that engage the flywheel. the pins in this unit are the whole way down in and I assume they should spring back out? Is there a way to replace these? I am using some PB blaster to try to get them out. any trick to this?

I plan to use this baler to bale about 8 acres of hay this year. I don't have much hay and I only have a farmall Super A to use. I know the tractor is a little small but for all i'm doing I hope it works. Just going to let the bales drop then go pick them up with a cart.

thanks much for the info! I will take is slow with the super A!!! not too big of windrows. I'm pretty excited to use it now.

Also drilled those holes and I got one pin loose already. The other is still stuck so far so I filled it with PB blaster and will try again tomorrow to get it free. After this we'll move on to the other parts! I need to get a manual. I guess an operators manual should do OK.

Any idea where I can get decals for a Hayliner 68 baler? Am partially restoring this one and so far I'm just painting over the old decals with NH yellow paint using an artist's brush. Looks good from a distance, but up close, oh my!
