Anyone ever used one of these? Are they alright. I am about ready to buy one. 4 years 0% interest, figure you can't beat free money.....

It's a 17 foot pull type with Manual Fold.

Most that bought them here consider them to be junk. Too light for this environment. I own the smaller version(2 basket) and am trading for Kuhn type(4 basket) this year. Mine needed welding the same as the others.

I've got the NewIdea version (same machine). I like it, got mine for $2500, 1 year old. Guy traded it in for hydraulic fold. I wish I had it. Been using it 4 years, good machine. Repairs are directly proportional to ground speed.

What have you found to be an appropriate ground speed on a fairly smooth but not pool table like hay field?

I've been tedding for years in 4th gear about half throttle-about 1500 rpm- with a 664 Diesel. I suppose about 5 mph. It just feels right and throws the hay up at what looks right. At my age, a pleasant quiet ride is important!

I mow with a 5208 NI disc mower. Best ground speed for the tedder is 50% of mower speed (I mow as fast as the terrain and hay thickness will let me). Normally I ted in 3rd or 4th gear on a Ford 8 speed with 34" tires, pto running at 540.
