A first I thought it was a broadcast spreader but now I'm not so sure. It's PTO driven, and as you can see there is some sort of tube sticking out the back, not your normal broadcast configuration.

Any ideas?

Yes, that's a pendulum spreader. Vicon/Kverneland is the only make I've seen, and what I use, but there could be others. That doesn't look like a Vicon. They generally had a poly hopper. I seldom use it for spreading seed. It doesn't throw it much wider than the tractor wheels anyway, so speedwise, it's no quicker to cover ground than with a drill or Brillion, and you still need to make another pass to cover the seed. I only use the spreader for fertilizer. Works very well for that, and is quite accurate.

That what I would use it for, fertilizer not seed. I was just talking about a old broadcast seeder, I probably should not have said anything about it, confuses the situation.

Thanks for the info,

Yes it is a broadcast spreader. The tube in the back swings back&forth to spread ferterlizer or seeds. I have never seen one on wheels only 3 point hitch. I think Vickon (spelling) makes them.

Oh, OK, it a bit different then the old one my grandfather had, then again that seeding down...

It's different with the wheels isn't it? I may see what he wants for it, it would be better then the drop spreader and could even be used behind my older non-three point machines...

I thought the drop seeder would be better. You don't throw past the field edges or in the fence row.

I think it's more of a time issue. The drop spreader works well, but only does 8 feet at a time and at a somewhat slow speed. The broadcast spreader is PTO driven so speed is less an issue and it covers more area.

That what I've been told anyway.
