Mine are a little rusted. Called the dealership, they are "obsolete". I would like to get new ones or have these repaired before they are completely rusted through. Anyone have any ideas on where to purchase replacements or get them repaired? Mine are the smaller hoppers on the outside rows.

Thanks, Nate

Max,

Mine is a cut down 1250. It is cut down to two rows. The two remaining boxes I have are from the outside rows, which are half size. The way the planter was cut down I don't think the regular 1240 boxes would fit. If you have the half size boxes, yes I'm interested.

JMS/MN,

I might have to find a good weld shop to repair mine. Just buying some good ones would be easier though.

Nate

Nate,

Are the 1250's the same as the 1240's? If so I have a set that have never been on a planter. They were bought new and never used.

1250 should be a 6rn planter- Inside boxes are the same as 1240, outside box is half-size, covers one row.

Our local welder rebuilt many of them when they were popular years ago. He formed new bottoms in a press, replacing about the bottom ten inches. Cut the holes, torch off the old and weld in the new. Same with the ends. After using, wash with diesel fuel.

Boy , i don't know what to tell ya as i went thru this about ten years ago with my 1240 that was like i said was in mint shap till a friend barrowed it to plant a couple acres of sweet corn , i had finished up my field corn and had it all washed out cleaned up and oiled when he came winen that he could not get anybody to plant his sweet corn and could he barrow my planter like a dumb arrs i let him use it and told him to clean it and oil it just like he found it . Well he not only used it but also my tractor and he even put it back in the shed like he found it BUT he did not clean out the fertilizer that he left in it like almost full hoppers and partly my fault for not checking it . Well time went by and one day while in the shed i opened up the lid and what was in there was rock hard and it was to late i tryed to salvage it but no go the boxes were totaly shot and the augers were trash . While at a sale one of my Jockey buddys and i were talken and i said something to him and he told me that he just happened to have two brand new boxes and brand new fert. augers for a 1240 layen in his barn and for the small price of 300 bucks they could be mine . I did not even try and beat him down just wrote the check and never again lent out any of my equipment to anyone again . So all i can tell ya is to check with some equipment jockeys and ya never know ya just may find some new old stock parts layen around.

Tractor vet,

Yea, that's what I'm afraid of. I took a chance and purchased the planter this winter. It works fine for now, but the corners of the boxes are looking a little thin. I used it already and I sure do like it. I would like to keep it for many years but the boxes won't last that long.
