Been lookin thru the JD parts site. I have a JD 224T baler and it has a broken needle. Been watching around for a replacement but mostly what I find are 14T parts. Looks like the 14T used a needle part #BP13365. The 24T and 224 balers also have this part number listed under the needle section but ALSO have a part #AE36262. I am thinking that the early production on the 24/224 balers used the same needle as the older model and then was changed at some point but do not know for sure. I ran my hands all over the existing needles and cannot find a cast ID number.
I am wondering if anyone has an idea how to tell what needle I need or if there is even a difference between the two parts listed? Any JD parts experts or JD baler experts out there?

I have a couple of used needles with the number AE36262. If these are what you need, feel free to contact me. I will be putting them on EBAY in the next day or two. Joe

Deere has a website with parts breakdowns for the machines. jdparts.com maybe? Anyway, you can enter your part numbers in the search box. This will tell you if one part has subbed the other one, or if there are S/N breaks where changes were made between balers, etc.

I use jdparts.com a lot, but it doesn't work unless the parts catalog for a machine has been updated since 1975. And, some of the older parts you can cross, and others won't, on the consumer site.

A Deere Master Parts Catalog would show the parts subs and when the numbers were changed. I have microfiches of Deere Parts Notes, which are about the same.
