One of the main differences of a K was the drive roller setup. The K had two upper drives and a belt routing that put lots of traction on the belts. The J and the XL have 2 upper drive and a lower drive. Which is the more traditional Vermeer system. The K also drove the pickup from the left side were most Vermeers are from the right. The K also turned slower so it uses less hp. The density system is similar to both the J and the XL. The K and XL also use double RC60 chain to drive the upper drive rollers were the J uses single RC80. The K and XL also use 14" and 6" wide belts were the J uses all 6.5". The K"s are a good baler, better than a J, but an XL would be better than the K. If all were in good shape. Th

Resale value alone, the older J will be worth more than a K baler. The XL is a great baler. The down side would be the net wrap on any of these balers. The New M Series has the best net wrap in the industry with a rollerless start, adjustable clutch tension, and uses any MFG's net wrap. The J baler to date is the best 605 baler Vermeer has made. The M series has been out one season but sales of the 605M are right at the top of all MFG's for the 605 size.
