This is just a story of how sturdy I think Bush hog makes their cutters so take what I say here with a grain of salt as I am by far NOT an expert here .

As a kid ( in the late '60's ) in Georgia on my Grandparents farm they used a pull type bushhog to cut hay as best I can recollect . It wasn't much wider than the IH three digit tractor they used . I was watching my Dad one day as he was cutting the field near the house . He was watching the mower because there was a muddy spot he was trying to cut around . The tractor wasn't maintained to well it seems because one of the front wheels fell off the narrow front end . My Dad didn't realize it and ran over the wheel . That wheel and tire got thrown out and went for about 30 feet ! Scared the bejesus out of my Dad ! The mower jumped up about 3 feet off the ground and made one terrible noise before the shear bolt broke I guess . Didn't hurt a thing on the mower , the tractor or the tire/rim . Tire had some minor cuts but still held air . Turns out the adjusting nut that held the hub on backed off .

As for value ? I can't answer that but I've heard that they are , or at least used to be , in the same league as Rhino/Servis is . In other words a high quality machine . But still check the working parts not the easy and cheap to replace parts . Things like slop in the gear boxes , spindle bearings , blade mounting area and pto shaft . The box and wheels it all rides on is the cheap and easy part to fix . Good luck ! ...Randy
