Trailer house axles

I have a couple of trailer house axles I want to put on my homemade trailer. I need to beef it up a little. My question is: will any regular hubs fit the bearings so I can use common 15 inch rims or do I have to use the non standard trailer house rims. I was told by one guy that a chevy hub would work but havent tried it yet.

The liability of using trailer house axles for farm/equipment trailers is tremendous. Those axles are designed with cheap, low usage/low weight/low speed limitations. Unless you are only going to haul light loads at low speeds behind your tractor on your own property, it would be better and safer to find a better axle that is designed for heavy duty trailers. I would never take a trailer made with trailer house axles on a public road or street.

I went through that with my homade trailer. I tried to find a way to modify 15 inch rims to fit on the mobile home wheels, no luck. I doubt if there are any hubs that will interchange. If they are, they would cost more than buying new tires. I wound up buying new lo boy tires. There is an issue here in that you are not supposed to use mobile home tires for any thing but transporting mobile homes. Don"t know if that is the case where you are. Advantage of the lo boy tires is that they will carry a heavier load than 15 inch tires.
