Had wheat last year, planted Timothy on one half, alfalfa on the other half of the field.

I was thinking of cutting early to get the hay off before the wheat headed out. (I didn't think people would want wheat heads). Will the wheat grow back and thus be in the second cutting?

This wheat was up in late July, 2 months before normal wheat planting time....does this affect what the wheat will do?

I am in West Lafayette Indiana.

Cut it in the boot, maybe just a few heads showing. It won't be back.

Winter or spring wheat?

If you ccut it just before heading, it likely will not be much of a factor after that.

If you cut it when small, it can regrow again tho not as strong as the first time. Oats does this moreso, but wheat will as well.

I'm more familiar with spring wheat, maybe winter is different.
