Just finished plowing about 1 acre with my model 52 Deere trip plow. Great day for plowing weather-wise and the plow was really working fine! But,while putting the plow away I saw that the rim on one of the wheels broke. The plow has rubber tires mounted on steel spoked rims. I guess the rim was pretty rusty on the inside and a 12" strip along the outer rim edge busted out. Right were the tire bead rests. Not sure if or how I can fix this, but I sure don't want to junk the plow. I probably need a new (old)wheel, but where can I find one of those? Pete

Just go to an auto junk (parts) yard and get a rim of the size you have a tire for and cut out the center and cut your old rim off the spokes and weld the new one on as was when that rim was put on to start with as that plow only came out on steel when new and was converted with an auto rim years ago

Thanks Leroy. You gave me the idea about using a auto rim from a junk yard. I did it a little different...I cut out a section from the "junk" rim to match the broken piece on the plow rim. Welded that in place on the plow rim and it looks good as new.

The #52 plow did indeed come from the factory on rubber tires if ordered that way. Furrow wheel part number RW9A 1937-1941 and RW34A 1941-, Land wheel Part number RW8A (1937-1941) and RW36A (1941-1944) There are some others that sub too. Not as common as steel wheels though.

I know both that I had were cut down and every one else I have ever seen were cut down
