I have a bunch of farm implements that I am interested in finding some more information on them.

I am currently typing this up in college, 75km from the farm (Eastern B.C.), so I am typing this info in off the top of my head. If I find any errors, I post a correction.

First one up is a John Deere single point (Drawbar) cultivator. I am guessing it is of 1930's vintage. It was made in eastern Canada (Don't remember the city right now) It has about 15 blades, and is 6 feet wide. I am mainly wondering what model of cultivator this is.

Next one is the remains of a side delivery hay rake. I am guessing it is a early vintage from the fact it has steel wheels. It's also pained green and yellow, so I am assuming it is a John Deere. Does anyone have a scan of a parts book so I can see if I have enough parts to put it back together?

There is a Oliver three bottom plow (314?) that was converted to hydralics. Levers appear to be gas-axed off. #1: Is there a parts scan where I can try to convert it back? #2: Because tractor power is limited at the farm for now, could a Cat Twenty Two pull this through Clay?

A disabled Case rubber-tired disk tiller (14 discs) is sitting in a corner of our land. one of the rear wheel axles is broken, and several discs are missing. I think with some new parts, it should be useable again, but I have no idea what it is.

Also, there is another Disk tiller that is a bit of an orphan. A casting at the rear of the implement states it was made in Vancouver (Not sure if it's BC Canada or WA USA). It uses a cable to lift the discs from a single pneumatic tire. It appears to have been painted Blue and Red. Any ideas on it?

Finally, what are the specifcations and production years on a Case 1150 Swather? Ours has a gas engine, with a 16ft header on it.

I am willing to do Basic fabrication to make parts, so missing parts should not be a problem.

Thank you for any replies,

Chris

I don't see anything in that list that perks my interest. Scrap prices are still holding well. Try to find desirable implements in good original condition. Items that have been cut and welded with homemade repairs will never have collector value.

Update on the implements

Pics ARE coming. I did not have access to the digital camera for a week, So stay tuned for pics!

#1: The cultivator uses 13 Blades, and is 7 feet wide. John Deere, made in Ontario.

#2: I examined the parts yet again, but have no idea what brand it is. after looking at the parts (Or what's left of it) The drawbar and caster wheels closly resemble the restored case hayrake in the implement photos: Third Party ImageLink

#3:I am pretty certin this plow is a Oliver Model 314. the hydralic attacment is cruder than I thought. a grinder and a few wrenchs are all that's needed to remove the hydralic cyilender and it's mounting. Aside from some general repair, a new set of coulters and rebending a axle, this plow should be ready in a week's worth of effort! :)

#5: Took another look at the casting. It states:

Mid-West Equipment Ltd.
Vancouver Canada

it is about 12 feet long, with 13 disks. It looks like it was attached to one of John Deere's fast hitches (You know- JD's way of trying to wriggle around the Ferguson's 3PTH patents) I think I could convert this to 3 Point.

I agree with the pictures, have someone back home take some digitals and email them to you. You said you were at college. You have a great source through what is in the library and what you can access through it on the books and web sites. Maybe figure out a way for extra credit for research with one of your instructors. Double whammy there.

One thing you could do to find out more or identify brand is to check out some of the history books written about the different brands. I know there is a two volume set about John Deere products, and there are several written by C. Wendel about IH, A-C, Oliver, and Case. Most of these have a title like "150 years of J.I. Case" etc.

They have a lot of old pictures that you could use to match up to what you have. From that you could look for owner's manuals, parts books, etc., that could help in determining what's there and what's missing. Hope this helps.

Another good thing to help is to post pictures here for everyone to see as well as go through the implement photos that are posted on this site
