Considering buying a Leinbach 1 bottom plow for $295 here in central Ohio. Looking for insight here. Anyone know anything about them?

Hi,

I bought one a few months ago and have used it to plow about a 1/4 acre with my 2N. No problems with it, and it seems very sturdy compared to the TSC single bottom. Your price seems high though (I am in southern ohio) so I hope it's new. I paid $75 for mine at a local implement dealer.

HTH

Paul

Paul,
Thanks for the response. Yes, the $295 price is for a brand new one from a local independent store. I had never heard of that brand before. Did you buy yours used? Are there any more for that price???

I got mine from Top Quality in Chillicothe. It was the only one that they had. Most implement places are pretty flexible on their prices on used equipment.

Leinbach is at:

I have a used post hole digger and plow from them. Both seem sturdy and operate as expected.

Bryan,

Where are you at in Ohio? And, what are pulling your plow with? I have found that used implements in Ohio are dang near cheap because it is 'Big' farm country and plows with 3 botoms or less are considered toys. Therefore, they sell cheap. I am in north east KY...about 75 miles from Chillicothe. I have bought some items from a guy in Grove City and the drive is easy from here. I bought a 3 bottom Ford 101 plow for $190..... ..down here, that is a $450 plow. I know this guy goes to machinery sales and picks this stuff up for next to nothing..I would bet he had maybe $75 in the plow I bought. So, if you would attend some machinery sales up there, you can save yourself some major dollars. If your tractor can pull a 2 bottom plow, you can always remove one bottom from a 3 bottom plow. Three bottom plows sell for less than 2 bottoms do because many small operators can use a 2 botom and not a 3. The 3 bottom plow is a dinosaur to a big farmer...so, they sell cheap. As for the leinbach stuff...I had a piece or two fo their products and they seemed okay to me. I have an older Pittsburg brand single 16" plow and it's a dandy.
