I use an old one row tobacco setter (Transplanter) with pocket chain removed. 1" PVC down pocket chute to drop seed down. 6' row width, 4' plant spacing. Works great regardless of seed size & less than $50 in planter. Command PPI really helps with grass & weeds. Just a simple plan that has worked for me for several years.

I'm planting an acre of them. Kansas. May 25-June 10. I'm in a civic group and we plan on selling them at a local fair in October.

My brotyher and I planted them on Memorial weekend last year, this year he wants to go earlier. I think he's nuts! We were cutting them out too early last year, but it's what the market called for I guess.... This year we're gonna have about 1- 1 1/2 acres of all sorts of gourds, squash, mellons, corn, etc etc. to sell on the front lawn. Donovan from Wisocnsin

Yep, acre & a half this year, down some from normal. First week of June was a little too early last year. I'll plant second week of June in South Central Kentucky using Conn. Field as they're our most consistent producer.

Do you use a premergence after putting the seeds in the grown or just use convential tillage.

I'm not experienced at growing pumpkins, but I'm going with 12-15' rows, and spacing them 2-3 feet. I'm also going to spray treflan between the rows right before it rains.

I have an old covington corn planter that has pumpkin plates. I would think that you would just need the roght plates.
