Planting corn on 10 acres?

Are there any easier crops to plant then corn?

I really would prefer it farmed because I don�t wont to cut 10 more acres of weeds. But good farmers are getting hard to come by.

Spring: field cultivate it, harrow it. (Many field cultivators have a 2-4 bar harrow on the back of it, good to go don't need the extra harrow then.)

Plant it.

Spray it.

(If no spray, and you cultivate it, then you need more harrowings between the field cultivator & planting, as well as harrowing 5-7 days after planting, & perhaps rotory hoeing. Will need the harrow, cultivator, & rotory hoe.)

If you have a corn crib & use for ear corn, can pick it fairly cheap. Otherwise, you can't possibly afford a combine for 10 acres of corn.

Tractor, need 40 hp, bigger if you need to get it all done on weekends. Implements to fit your tractor size.

Soil tests & having the coop fertilize is needed for continuos corn, as well as insect control - BT corn, or insecticides applied with the planter. Like others, I'd prefer rotating with soybeans, alfalfa, or whatever....
