Just wondering if the governor on these are much trouble to rebuild. Friend had bought this swather and is working to get it up and going but the governor wants to throttle back and forth. It has the slant six Chrysler engine.

The governor contains a small amount of motor oil to lube it. It has a fill plug and a check plug.

Unless it has been run without oil, it is unlikely to wear out. I have seen several that HAVE been run out of oil, and it ain't pretty!

More likely, there is crud in the carburetor, causing the governor to "hunt".

If you need more info on the governor, I could email you a couple of pages out of the shop manual. (Wouldn't get to that 'till Monday, though!)

Bob, thanks for your reply. As it turns out you where correct on the carburation problem. The pcv hose was gone and not plugged. I had not seen this machine until this afternoon. Thanks again for your input and I may be calling on the forums again when he shows up at my doorstep.
