Vermeer 605K tying ( wiring)

I am trying to hook up a backup system for the tying system. I found where the connection is for the tying motor, but I guess I am not wiring it right. I got a switch that has 3 prongs on it. The middle prong is power coming in from the battery, the upper prong is hot when turn switch up and bottom prong is hot when switch is turn down and when switch is in the middle position nothing is hot. But I can not get it to work the tie motor on the baler

Shouldn�t the wires (2) going to the tie motor just have one hot at a time one be hot to make arms extend then the other wire be hot when arms are being retracted?

I checked ground from tractor to baler etc and everything seems good, even ran another wire from the tie motor to the tractor to make sure it was grounded ok.
Like I said it works with the monitor just want a backup system in case monitor goes out or someone wants to borrow my baler, I figure it be easier hooking up a small switch then mounting the whole monitor in some else�s tractor for them to borrow it a day or so.
