What is it about plastic twine that doesn't work in the older balers. Is it the diameter or something else.

In one of the Farm Show magazines there was an article by a guy who specialized in baler repair. He stated that on balers with knoter and twine problems using plastic would almost always fix the problems. Apparentley it's due to the consistant diameter of the plastic. Personally, I hate the stuff.

Try tightening the twine disk down a bit.Plastic twine is harder to hold since it is a bit slicker than sisial. On most balers there are two castellated nuts with cotter pins in them.Just go one castellation at a time until the knotter will hold the plastic. Most of the time it only takes one notch on each nut.

I run a 50's Ford 250 with plastic. BT-130 that is. No issues here. Just keep the knives sharp.
