Not exactly an implement, Gehl Skidsteer

Easy one first. One of the bucket cylinders in leaking a bit. I was lookin at it to night and wonderin how you get a new one in there. Is the piston bolted on like the China cylinders? I may just go ahead and replace all four if there that easy. If I have to remove the extension pipe from the end of the ram, I don't know may just do the one. I have done that before and it was a -----.

Second, This one may be a little harder. When you lower the booms it will sometimes come down at an angle (left hangs to right drops). Not always and not always at the same height. When it does this it slows way down and you have to wait for it. Sucks if there up there a bit. If you try to power it down the relief valve can be heard kicking in. Usally put it in float mode and wait. I can't really see a reason. Nothing bent, some wear, but nothing catching. And they do continue to drop. Just very slow. There is some kind of device on the cylinder on the left side. Is that some kind of flow control that is kicking in slowing the decent? Mabey some kind of safety feature for blowing a hose?

Not sure about your first problem, but I would bet that the device you are looking at on the lift cylinder is a solenoid valve that is a safety feature. If you get up off the seat, a electric circuit is broken and the valve closes, preventing movement of the liftarms. If that is what it is, find the problem and fix it. DO NOT bypass that safety feature. Lots of people killed when the liftarms accidentally lower on them as they get out of the machine. Call Gehl's service department in Madison, South Dakota.
