Ferguson L-U0-20 Loader

I bought a Ford 2N as a project. It came with what appears to be a very light duty loader. The tag on it says it's a Ferguson L-U0-20 with a s/n of 1230. It came to me as a pile of scrap iron and I'm trying to evaluate whether it's all there and worth trying to sell or if it just needs to go in the scrap pile.

I'll take some pictures of the pieces later and post them. In the meantime, give me a shout if you've ever heard of this beast.

There are two brackets that bolt to the front axle, one one each side. The loader hardware then appears to attach to these bracket. I'm assuming this is supposed to be plumbed to the tractor test port and then chain down the lift arms. I can't find any kind of hydraulic control valve anywhere else on the system.

I would like to have it, Very collectable, does not plumb into hydrolic system but hooks to 3 point lift arms, I have the manual

I would like to have one but if I read your handle corectly you are in the state of Utah that is 3,000 mile from me here in Ohio so to get it shipped would not be possible. They are an attraction at machinery shows and were a lot better than a pitchfork, I know of three of them around here, one restored, one not that could be mounted, one that a 90 year old widdow has part of laying outside in a pile, have not seen the tractors in 20 year and think they may have been sold with part of loader on one of them and a side mount mower on the other. None for sale. I have a 41 9N and a 44 2N that it would fit either tractor. I have dialup also on windows 95 and is slow. Leroy

In these two photos I've laid out the parts where I think they probably should go. The smaller parts nearest the tractor are the brackets that bolt to the axle. I'm not too sure where the triangular assembly should go, nor am I sure what attaches to the top holes of the axle bracket and what attaches to the lower holes.

Here's the tag letting me know it is a Ferguson unit. The next photo shows the other parts which are painted green. That kind of makes me wonder if I don't have parts of two different loaders that someone has cobbled together. I can't figure how these green parts attach. The hydraulic cylinders have "HF" cast into the ends, so I assume they are also Harry Ferguson parts.

I really have no use for this loader. There's an auction coming up around here on April 8 so I'll take it there and see if anyone there wants to put his hand up. I suspect most of the buyers there will have less idea how to make this work than I do. If it sells it will probably be for scrap value. At least it will be off my driveway!

Unless I am mistaken the cylinders pull together instead of push and they hook in congunction with a rocker that hooks to the 3 point lift arms for to get full lift, the cylinders would do the breakaway on the lifting then the 3 point arms would do the rest of the lifting. That loader was made for use with a quick hitch for a Ferguson Manure Spreader and when you parked the spreader where you wanted to load you lowered the loader and the spreader unhooked while loader was not quite down to the ground and you pulled out and loaded then just backed up with the hoader at the height it unhooked and just by raising the loader you were hooked up ready to spread. It would take me several days to find my loader manual and the one that I know is on a tractor is 35 mile from home and that tractor with loader and spreader combination is only used for shows and all completely restored. Don't have the time now to run down to see exactly how it is hooked up. Total loader should weigh less than 500# but parts would be to long to put on a shipping palet. It would operate the lift cylinders of that test port but in conjunction with the 3 point and you wopuld not tie the 3 point down. Leroy

I would not put the loader on that auction but advertise it in the local and national Massey-Harris-Ferguson Club newsletters as unless you find a Ferguson coloctor they will not know what it is and it will go for junk and it should not do that as worth more than junk price to a colector, Junk price less than 5 bucks. If could just find a way to have it shipped.

Actually, I have a pallet that's long enough to ship these parts. It's about 10' long. I scavenged it from the local Kubota dealer. He gets implements and loaders shipped to him in pieces on these pallets and then he just throws them away. I used one last winter to ship a complete Dearborn loader to Pennsylvania.

I'm pretty sure from your description that I do not have all the parts, but I've probably got most of them. If you could find a shipper I'm sure we could work a deal that wouldn't cost you too much. I'll poke around and see if I can find the shipping contact that the buyers of my Dearborn loader used last winter.

That would be great. I hate trying to sell things that I know nothing about. If I had a photocopy of the manual I could at least tell potential buyers what is missing and avoid ugly misunderstandings.
