New Holland 465 Cutterbar Split

Well I just bought a used New Holland 465 Disc Mower. Ordered the sales and service manuals today. I know it needs 3 bearings replaced on the cutterbar. Looks like I will need to split the whole bar. Any tips or advice on this before I jump into it. Also, any sources for these bearings?? I'm assuming my friendly NH dealer will be able to get these.

The 465 is the same as a GMD77. The bearings should be available through Kuhn, NH, or locally. I've never had mine apart, but a neighbour had his apart, and I'm pretty sure he got the bearings locally. Be sure to replace the seals when you put things back together. I would also check the gears over carefully, especially where some bearings have failed. I would also bear in mind that a little heat can go a long way in getting exposed bolts out. Make em glow, and then turn them out. I don't recall my friend saying it was his favorite job either. I hope you got the thing awful cheap. Good luck.

Well...I got it cheap, but after checking on the bearing costs from New Holland, probably not cheap enough. I will probably kick myself before its all over.

How many bearings do you need? I have several if they fit the same cutter bar as the Kuhn 66,which is the old style one piece bearing and not the double bearing. Let me know how many you need and I will make you a deal on them.

If he"s not interested I might be. I"ve got an older model Kuhn GMD 66, it"s not needing bearings yet, but you never know when....

Get the part number for those bearings and try a local bearing wholesaler...I have had great luck getting the bearings that way vs from JD and at less than half the price no less.
