Ford round baler

I found a Ford 552 round baler for sale locally and was wonderin what they were like. I searched but found much of nothing other than the were made by Gehl (1500 eq). Anyone have an insight on them? Pro's, Con's. Seems like a pretty basic machine, however not sure I am real keen on a shear bolt. I am just looking to put up some grass hay (hay-grazer) with it.

They are not a bad baler but they are a closed thoat. Which means the hay must be good and dry. I would also look into parts avaiblity. I believe that Gehl is fading in their ag business.

I have nothing bad to say about them. I use to know a farmer who had one. I did repair work on his equipment and attachments. I never had to repair that baler from any break downs or anything. Both him and I loved that baler and loved using it. That baler never let us down and ALWAYS got any thick and dry or heavy and wet job done fast. My thoughts are it will be a great baler for you.
