The title was like 150 years of farm impliments. He has other books out like on tractors and steam engines. Also some parts are still had at Deere. Using the part number from the book, my dealer suplied me with a new chain sprocket that drives the rear wide sweep drum. Jorde"s from Minnisota can supply the correct decals and of course a picture from Deere advertisement can show you the correct placement.

Ralex,Thanks for the info on the JD E spreader. I will start restoring as soon as I get a manual. It was my Grandfathers and has been stored in a barn for 50 yrs. I would like it to look as original as possible. Would you know the the paint colors that were used? The side boards were red on this one is that correct?

I researched this as I too have a model E waiting in line to be restored. A book by author Wendal has a nice color picture from advertisement from Deere. Shows all wood painted red with all metal painted green except for the yellow wheels of course. I talked to the Two-Cylinder club who told me about the pine wood. Deere spreaders were built in Moline in a building that today is their archives building. Deere used pine wood into the sixties like in forage box wagons.

DJ, I got my manual at the Deere dealership. They had to order it , but the parts manual was the most help in restoration . The wood used was pine. It was also tonge and groved.
