Horse Trailer vs CattleTrailer

Both types of trailer.. horse and stock have escape doors usually.. the big difference you see between horse only, and stock, is the horse trailer will have a lowered door/ramp.. or a big swinging door.. where A STOCK TRAILER MAY HAVE THE SWINGING DOOR, AND A CHUTE SLIDE INT HAT DOOR.. THAT WAY YOU CAN BACK UP TO A CATTLY CHUTE, AND JUST SLIDE THE CHUTE DOOR OPEN.. RUN THE CALVES IN, THEN SLIDE SHUT.. WITHOUT HAVING THE WHOLE BACK OF THE TRAILER OPEN AS A HORSE TRAILER, door open. I have a two-horse trailer and do not have a stock trailer. I haul two calves (500 - 550lbs. each) in my trailer with no problem. I can haul one adult cow (1200 - 1300 lbs.), but I would not try to put two adult cows in the trailer. Two horses will stand still, side-by-side and ride nicely. Unfortunately, you can't restrain the cows when they're in the trailer, and they get really rowdy.

Also, I had to rig up a chain-and-board deal to close the gap between the top of the tail-gate and the top of the trailer so that the calves can't "jump" out of the trailer when they're in it.

I would love to have a stock trailer, and I plan to buy one someday - when I win the lottery.

You need a stock trailer instead of a horse trailer.

The nags can always ride in a stock trailer, but horse trailers are kinda built around the use of the ponies and don"t leave a lot of room
