I"m looking for a disk for a 8N to use in sandy soil. How big is too big, what do I look for in a used one to see if it"s good? (Cracked discs, missing scrapers, sloppy bearings, etc.)
Thanks in advance.

I pull a 6 ft Ford 601J with good results. Would not go much heavier.

You should be able to pull a 5-6' dual ganged disc. i like the box frame units as they are heavier and sturdier.. your choice on the grey iron greasable bearings, or the sealed bearings... Your N will pick up about 750-800# of weight on the rear befor ethe front end comes up.. hang some weight on your bumper to help with that. in any case.. 900-1000# will make the relief valve unseat, assuming your lift and pump are up to snuff..

I pulled a dual ganged 5.5' old ford disc with my 8n fine.. was all that it wanted to lift too..

Soundguy,
Thanks! The lift works pretty well, so that shouldn"t be a problem.
