Hey y'all,
What are y'all paying for 6 foot discs in yer neck of the woods? Good, heavy ones with zerk fittings. This one is new, from Florida with 18" discs, 6 1/2 foot. They are asking $650. I called Poplarville sales and they want $1800 for one. They used to be country and now I think the prices are out of control. They say it is the price of steel and shipping..... .. Any info appreciated.

A new disk for $650, as you describe, is an excellent buy around central VA where I'm at. You'll have a good piece of equipment that will probably last you the next 20 years or more if you take care of it.

With spring here, I'm guessing you're ready to start using one now. Waiting for an auction is an "iffy" proposition. If you need one now, is there an upcoming auction with a disk that you want? You may get something good and save some money, may buy a worn out lemon. Plus you have to transport it home which sometimes is tuff!

Clean it off when done, store it in a shed and you'll have something you can trade in for a larger or differnt piece in a few years. My experience is equipment prices just keep going up. If similar disks go for $1,200, or $1,800, you'll be able to sell it or trade it in for the $650 you paid for it.

At an auction you should be able to find them in the $200 range (used, of course).
