Anyone have any experience with a 1014 Hesston. The one that I have come across is just the cutter and windrower, no conditioning that I can tell. This one has been sitting for atleast 10 years. What is good or bad or ugly about these machines. Thanks. Kyle

Hi Tx:
We have a 1014 and been using it for years. Are you sure the rollers arent in it? I cant say how good a machine it would be without them.
We just purchased a new Hesston rotary last Spring (damned if I remember the model number or distinction) which works slightly better than the old 1014. Meanwhile were still using the 1014 for second and third cutting as it cuts cleaner than the new rotary. I cant say it hasnt been its share of headaches to me. Age has been its primary fault in wear. Biggest problem is keeping up with adjustments in a machine hard to find parts for anymore. Sometimes having to shim here or there to close tolerances. Tines, sickle bar, rock guards, hydraulic hoses are easy enough parts to buy and replace. The conditioning rollers if you should need them may be another question; although they are around in bone yards. Interestingly enough when one shows up on a dealers lot they are soon gone. Being hydraulically driven they have fewer mechanical parts to wear out. Fernan in Michigan
