Has anyone been using the bale accumulator, Agway has a 8 bale accumulator and grapple. I live in N.E. Ohio and have never seen one. I bale 30 ac of hay and like the idea of not handling hay 3 times. Any Pros or Cons would be appreicated.

The Agway unit you are asking about is the same unit that was known as Netherexe. These units drag the bale on the ground. I have be running accumulator setup for last several years and they will work after you get them set correctly and your baler can make a relative uniform bale. I have been running Hoelsecher unit, and would recommend them or I do like the looks of the Kuhn unit also, since it is patterned off the bale basket wagons which I used to run. I don't care for the ones dragging on the ground, and I like everything on edge. The Hoelscher setups got price last week and new they will be 10,000.00 for total pkg at least. Kuhn is in same price range. Steffens units are higher. I know the Agway may be some cheaper but not my choice. Seen them work at the hay expo,no thank you. Give me ring if you would like to know what I seen there as its problem. They all have some niches thou. But Iwould never go back. But some guys really like them also,so if it works for you fine. Not my choice thou. I did know where ther was used unit available last week in the 6000.00 range. 319-257-6764

Hoelscher makes a ten bale accumulator and claw, which I have spent some time around. Farmhand also made an eight bale unit, not sure if they are still making those or not? The old Farmhand units can be had including the claw for up to $5k. A new Hoelscher accumulator and claw will cost you around ten grand. Farmhand lays them out and is more simple than the Hoelscher but the Farmhand doesn't flip the bales on their edge, which can be beneficial if you don't get to unloading the hay for a day or two. Pro: one less time to handle the hay, unless you unload with a machine. Then you don't have to touch any of it. Con: you won't get as many bales on a wagon than with hand-stacking.

There is a dealer for accumulators here, they work great, but of course, you must have a front end loader. There is one man here, who copied the machine, and built one himself. It works fine. He also built the grapple for the loader.

The people who were advertiseing their accumulators on ebay, will send you a VHS tape of the accumulator and grapple in action. It is about 10 minutes, and made very well.
