I tried to order missing hitch parts for my KK box blade at TSC last Sunday. They looked up the part numbers and gave me a price. I wanted to pay at that time but they said that it wasn"t required.

On Tuesday they called and said that they couldn"t order the parts until I paid for them in full. I tried to give them my credit card number but they wouldn"t take it and said that I had to drive 80 miles round trip and pay in person.

This got me pretty miffed since I was going to have to drive 240 miles to get the parts that I need, 160 was bad enough. After hanging up the phone I found the King Kutter website and was able to order the parts that I need directly from them delivered to my door. The price of the parts including shipping was $43 less than what TSC was going to charge me. Not only that but I saved $33 in fuel plus my time and wear and tear on my truck.

The parts/shipping was $82, savings by ordering directly equals $76+. What"s wrong with this picture?

Update: King Kutter Box Blade Parts/TSC in reply to CaptRon, 02-22-2006 08:49:16
Well I called King Kutter this morning to find out about my order and they said that they didn't show an order for me even though my credit card had been charged.

They are checking on it and are supposed to call me back.

On another subject, I bid out a proofmeter on Ebay from Kraft Implement Sales for my Ford 960 on Feb 18. According to the auction details it was supposed to ship the next business day which would have been 20th or 21st depending on the holiday. The auction also stated that the unit would ship via USPS and to add $1.30 for insurance, no returns would be accepted with out insurance both ways. Immedately after the auction close I paid via PayPal and included a note that if shipped other than USPS to contact me for my physical address.

I received an e-mail from them with all the details and that the best way to contact them is by telephone during business hours (8-5cst), they don't answer e-mails.

Fast forward to the 24th, I get an e-mail from Quantum View at 7pm stating that my package is scheduled for pick by UPS. I grabbed the phone but they are already closed and I have to wait til this morning (27th) to call them.

They agree that they didn't follow their own shipping and insurance instructions in the auction and that they would make the address change with UPS on the delivery day. Also they are refunding the $1.30 that I paid for insurance since UPS automatically covers up to $100 at no additional charge.

Not trusting them to follow through with the address change on Wed, I called UPS directly and explained the situation. Will call them back on Wed morning and make the changes so that I can get the proofmeter that day. They said that the change can be made while the truck is enroute. I can do this at least an hour before Kraft even opens.

Usually I like to have parts shipped when I place an order and a day or two delay isn't a big deal. The problem with tese two shipments is that I will be out of town when they arrive. Normally UPS will place it on the porch but that poses a problem since the porch will be out of town also. I live in a fifth wheel RV as a fulltimer and take a trip to Charleston, SC every month for Dr's appointments and other business. So if UPS tries to deliver here there's no house.

GREAT NEWS!!! King Kutter just called and my parts are due to arrive tomorrow.

Link to the proofmeter auction included, read the shipping details.

Sorry for the long rant,
CaptRon

UPS just delivered my parts from King Kutter, I saved $43 and they arrived right to my door, screw TSC.

Now if I can just get my proofmeter tomorrow I'd hitch up the camper and head south for a week.
I gave the UPS guy a heads up so he knows the deal and is going to be on the look out for a small box with my name on it. But I'm still calling UPS in the morning to change the address.

Good job!!! The only thing you need to do now is call the district manager of TSC and tell him the story. These companies imvest millions per store then fail to train or supervise employees and pay them min wage. What do they expect, but competition with the Internet will get them off their butts.

Same thing happened to me-I ordered 4 implement tires-told me I could pay when they came in.

Called me 2 WEEKS later and said I had to pay before ordered. Then it was another 3 weeks before they came in-and I got hassled about doing 2 at one time and two at another-made me take all 4 and return with 2 later and prove I bought them there.

Long story short it was almost 6 weeks from time I first tried to buy the tires.

Oops, my issue happened at "Farm & Fleet"-not TSC. Not that there is that much difference.

I have to agree with what hayray said. They are really just a store for pretend farmers, Dr's and laywers and people who make so much money they never ask what something costs. TSC doesn't have any part or equipment for a tractor over about 40 hp. They are into designer pet food and fancy toys to play in the dirt with, and tools that break about the second time you need to use them. They really should change their name to TTSC, Toy Tractor Supply Co.

I have to admit, since the new one by me opened a couple weeks ago, I hate that place. They have only 1/2 of what I need, and charge a couple bucks more too. They sell the same stuff as our Fleet Farm (great place) that's mad eby the same company, just has a diffwerent label.

For instance: Teat dip and udder wash. Both made by Stearn's, but under 2 different names. The stuff we use is blue. Never have a problem getting either at Fleet. TSC has 40 gallons of dip and not a single gallon of wash on their shelves. Even the employee said "thats weird..."

Who was it? George Strait that was the mouthpiece for TSC a while back? I remember a comercial they did, and actually said that the 'tractor' in tractor supply co. stood fro lawn tractor..

I do like the tisco parts they carry for the antiques.. and the odd emergency fencing needs and such.. but I don't normally buy tools there. Sometimes lubes and some carharts.. etc..

Once in a blue moon they have a good deal.. like the 27g air compressors for 199$.. i finally got something that was bigger than a pancake pump.. gald I did too.
