I have a Massey Ferguson 265 62hp tractor. I have a 7' land pride finish mower that I use to cut about 7-8 acres. I was wondering if someone knew about how much it would cost for a 7' bush hog. It doesnt have to be a heavy duty one, but I dont want a light duty one. It doesnt matter what brand either, although I know, you get what you pay for. I have some land (about 35 acres) that needs to be cut and it has some small (2" or less) brush and trees on it. Any thoughts? Or is it worth the extra money to get the 7' over the 6' model. I wont use it much (about 3-4 times a year).

Oh yeah.. forgot.. you can't touch another mower for the price of the howse.. my 10' unit was 2500$.. compaired to nearly 4000 for a kodiak, and 6k and up for other brands..

I'd look at the howse HD line.. they are built heavier thant he medium heavy and economy line of howse implement you currently see.

They have 7-8-10' in the HD line.. 3pt or drag.

I personally have the 10' 3pt model HD cutter.. works nice. Have mowed with it for 2 seasons now.. have nocked down plenty of 2" woody sapplings with it. it comes with a slip clutch.

I normally power it with my Nh 7610s ( 90pto hp ).. but have a 5000 that it will hook up to in a pinch. Seeings as how a 5000 is 70 hp ( 67 pto ) you should be able to power an 8' if not a 10' model. That would make mowing fast. I can mow 10ac in 2.5 hrs with my 10' mower.. etc.. mowing in 5high.

I accidently bot used 5 foot bush hog squealer with slip clutch instead of new bush hog razorback with shear pin, sure glad I made that mistake

that heavier gauge steel and slip clutch has been worked to death in heavy brush and still going strong

I mave MF135 and it handles 5 footer all day long in anything

7 footer gets you done a bit sooner but limits getting into tight spots

Average condition used brush hogs seem to start at about $100 a foot at auctions in my area. Of course there are always exceptions, higher and lower.
