What advantages to upgrade to a 7300 JD vacuum planter over a 7100 JD plate planter? Also would it be possible to use corn shelled from previous season to plant the following year. I have done this with wheat and oat seed without problems

there's no comparison between the 7100 and the 7300. The 7300 will outplant the old 7100 any day of the week. Also will space the seed much better!
Do you have the V press wheels on the 7100, if so that's another-

'Brown-bagging' works on small grains and soybeans, but with corn hybrids it will produce very little grain. There is corn whose seed can be used, I think it's called 'open pollinated'. It doesn't yield much to start with, but is cheap. Economics support using hybrid seed.
