As stated basically same machine, 1219 newer, few minor updates. Bearings and seals, mostly, in the drive systems (beefed up shafts as such). My 1209 likes to have little over 40hp. Gotta be careful though, tractor needs to have some weight. I wouldn't try to run one with a ford 000's or early 0000's series. I run mine with an AC D19. 65hp, 5500lbs. No problems at all. D17, JD 30 series, IH 565, etc. would be a good fit to one. You will need one remote, 540 PTO (no over-run couplers), and a pretty beefy draw bar. Most came with a special hitch (equal angle). Make sure you get it. You can tell by the end of the tongue. It will have an eye let (horizontal). It fits over a stud on the hitch that mounts on the draw bar. They are great machines. Fortunately for us the don't carry the NH high dollar reputation. However there are a few things you want to check out. Roller gear box for play. If you grab the slip clutch and try to move it back and forth. There shouldn't be much play there at all. If less than say 1/4" play before engaging rollers its probably OK and has some life left in it. Any more its ready for overhaul. Kinda the same with the wobble box, except I catch it in mid stroke and compare the input pulley to the sickle drive arm. If any play exist I be Leary of it. They should be solid as a rock. And like any machine with rubber rolls, check for cracks and peeling.
