Kids have moved away so I picked up a baler with a thrower. I have 4 flat rack wagons and my question is is it worth it to build wood racks on them to use the new baler or would it be better to just look for new wagons. I have had my eye out for some steel frames to put on but have had no luck. Thanks for your help.

Personally I would forget the thrower attachment and use bale basket wagons instead period. Been the kicker route, the flat wagon route after kicker troubles, then went to baskets and no Comparison.now run accumulator.

thats really to bad. What did you see that was bad and have You actually used one. Yes if not used and setup correct they can cause some problems, but they are way easier to unload into elevator etc. I done the kicker bale thing for years and would never go back But like I always have said its whatever works for the owner that matters,no matter what the item. They are in demand in my area,so if you know if they want to give you one let me know. I have been told that several times and the funny thing is last fellow who I bought his units he hated them, I reset things differnt and used them then bought them from him. Funny thing was he wanted to use them back the next season when he found out that they could work really slick when they are setup correctly. They are now in Ohio and the fellow loves the units. but like said earlier it doesn't matter because you seen the bad side and are convinced.

That is what we did when we were making hay and if I was going to make hay now with a thrower I would either do that if my beds were good enough or make completly new beds out of wood. If you had 4 flats to use with the thrower figire 5 to equal the loading capacity or maby 6, depends on width of bed. On ours we sat the racks on top of grain boards and were remove able for storage or other use. 2 of the beds were 6' wide inside rack with 1 6 1/2' wide and 1 bed that had no grain boards and we were able to make that 7'. In no case would I want a rack wider than 7'.
