Just found 4845 New Idea bailer. Does any one know if they were good bailers or problem bailers? I noticed that the pick up on the bailer was the same as a IH that was setting next to it.What about age and worth of these bailers? thanks Sam

I bought one new in '95. If I remember right, it was around $12.5, w/net wrap. Only problem I"ve had is replacing the computer a couple of yrs ago.
It"s fixed chamber, so the center is "star" shaped, outer part of bale is really tight, makes a good bale. I don"t have huge equipment, so I like the 4x5 bale, this one"s a little different, 4" high X 5"long.

International Harvester sold the forage line of equipment to New Idea, that may have been just before the Case buy-out. Then Hesston made the hay and forage equipment for Case-IH, which the small square balers are center-line balers and the exact same as the Hesstons. Then New Idea was purchased by Agco which owns Hesston, so they are all the same. Then two years ago Case purchased New Holland, so now Case-IH forage harvesting equipment is now New Holland. I bought my Case-IH mid-capacity center line, small square baler in 1992, just after Hesston started making them for Case-IH - paid $9000, and sold it this fall for $4000 - always housed and brand new knotters.
