I spend an hour or so today digging this out of one of our pastures. To my surprise, it's in pretty good shape. There are some bolts that need replaced, but the structure itself is complete and all the tines turn freely.

But what is it? I assume the rack on the top is for adding weight..

Keep diggin',

Probably 3 more sections under the dirt along with the tongue. :>)

Pretty sure that is an old Minneapolis Moline hoe.

I found the tongue, and it's in pretty good shape too. Alas, there are no other sections to be found.

After I re-build and paint it, I will definitely put it to use as an aerator. I bet it does a good job!

Crafters take them apart and make sunflowers out of the wheels. about $20 a wheel, looks like about 200 bucks on ebay.

Bill, Used mainly in corn at early plant stage to tear out pin-weeds,and to aereate soil.A concrete block fits nicely in the basket for stubborn weeds or hard crusted soil. It's probably one of 2 or 4 sections, which were hooked together.~brad

Yup - an older small Rotary Hoe! Works great for "crust busting" and for "weeding" after the corn/milo are up a bit. I just converted a section for an old A-C hoe for use on my 8N. Does wonders as an areator, also!

It's an old rotary hoe. Sorry but I don't recognize the make.

Rotary hoe? I thought it was a giant steak tenderizer!

Seriously, though -- looks like it's in decent condition; would make a nice restoration piece.

Be sure to post a pic when you're all done & painted up!
