HI 76

Beaver, PA Here . Drill in with your oats or at the same time you would plant your oats. Broadcaster if you can find one, frost seeding around mid- to late march. When ground is honeycomded from a freeze. Types up to you and what you are after, Mammoth for plow down and for one time harvest. Lindino (white) in sour ground. I don't use any others, Sell most of my hay to horse poeple.

I am in Southwest MO. and I used to drill Red Clover in Fescue Sod in late Feb or March. I got a good stand most of the time.

Living in south western NY I seed my clover with a Massey 33 grain drill in mid April which is about as early as you can get on these muck clay fields. If we have frost It's usually gone by early April. Soil moisture dictates my timing. You can broadcast seed it in March if the snow is off the ground.

We have always done it on the snow, with a broadcast seeder. The snow when it melts just pulls it in to the ground. So far it has always worked well, other then the last few years. We haven't had any snow in 2 or 3 years so it hasn't worked LOL.

We always sowed clover when the oats were sowed in the spring. Usually after the frost is out of the ground. In Iowa, usually the end of March or 1st part of April.
