Disc harrow parts

I have a OLD Krause #4 model disc and will be in need of some bearing carriers in the next couple of months . By bearing carriers I mean the part that hangs down from the frame and carries the gangs with the disc axle bearings in them . If someone on here has or knows someone that has a #4 or similar disc that could be parted out I'd sure like to hear about it . Thanks ...Randy

I would suggest hitting the next farm sale in your area. I have seen those 12 -14 foot krause disc plows sell for 5, 10 15 bucks in poor shape with short discs. I cannot say specifically what model they were. And as the previous post states, I have also seen a friend of mine buy countless of these and molebords, etc and cut them up and scrap them.

Buying a whole plow or two would definately be cheaper than finding parts.

I should . Last year though I saw a couple of these go for about 10 times that . And they were in the condition you describe . At least this one has good size discs left on it ( 18" ) and is the right size for my Farmall M ( 12' ) . But I paid more than that even . It had a good cylinder and tires on it also . I just need to get three hanger brackets out of four on the front gangs . Over the years the blades were allowed to run loose and wore through the brackets , it just needed the shaft nuts tightened . But it had new blades a few years ago so those are not worn out yet . It's worth it to me to fix it because I already have it in my yard . And the IH 18' - 20' 480's that I want to get are still out of my price range for this small farm . Thanks ...Randy

I'm about to cut up three Krause discs I don't know what model they are but they are 14' wide and the main beams are about 3 1/2" square.

Hi Rick , Are you planning to scrap it or sell it ? I don't know for sure but I think that they used pretty much the same axle shaft supports the difference being the axle shaft diameter . Maybe I'm wrong . The frame size is 3-3/16" square and the total height of the bracket is 19" , from the bottom of the bracket up to the frame is 14" and it just clamps around the frame for adjustability , the shaft bearing hole is 3-1/2" for flangette's . It looks like a shallow , tapered c-channel flaring out wider at the bottom . They are pretty simple really . But I need 3 . Thanks ...Randy

It is unit dad bought several years ago you use in some graound we cleared. Didn't want to use our big good unit that first couple seasons,if we tour this unit up we didn't care as has no value anyway basically to speak so it s just been sitting eversince in the cattle pasture. He would sell it I imagine as he will never use it again and I certainly don't want anything that little.
