I am wanting to use a round baler maybe like a smaller hesston or something that makes a mid size bale. I do have two way hydralics on the old tractor. It has the piston the size that would make it like a 400. I,m not in a big rush to put hay up like doing a hundred bales a day or something. Would like to have one that i could haul the bales with my super h i have a 3 pt on it so can,t haul just alot of weight. This will be used on bromegrass and fesque. Thanks for any help you can give me. Delbert

Over at my friend"s place, they have an old CaseIH round baler, twine wrap. I don"t remember for sure but I think it made 4x5 bales, the bales weren"t real tight and sagged alot. I think it was more of an operator problem than a baler problem They ran it with a Farmall M, don"t think they had to many problems with that setup, just slow. Now the nieghbor wraps their 1st and half of their 2nd cutting on shares. How hilly of land will you be working? Weight is more of an issue than HP. Good luck and stay safe.

I see 3 problems No live pto which will be a pain unless you get an over-running shaft for the pto .Second how will you tie ?If electric you need 12volts. If hyd tie you will need dual hyd. one to tie and the other to open the gate .Third horsepower could be a problem .I have a New Holland 638 which is the smallest that they make,4x4 bales and it lists HP requirement at 35,which is getting close to the upper limits of an M

I baled quite a bit of hay with a hesston 5530 on my super H one year when I had my two bigger horses broken down. Worked ok a pain with no live power but she did it just fine. I would say most any small round baler would work....Jim
