Keith T is right except for the unusual case of such plows as the #44 John Deere Plow with offset standards, on those plows one needs to measure from the offset part of one standard to the corresponding spot on the next even though it may be offset the opposite way. The standard is the vertical portion the bottom bolts to.

What Maark told you is 100% wrong.You measure from the inside of one beam to the inside of the next.
