A few of you guys had asked me how I planted bigger landscape trees. This is the planter I borrowed for a local orchard. I am pretty sure I am going to buy it from them.

It looks like a big sub-soiler with a Vee welded to each side, it will open the soil about 9 inches wide. Then the packing wheels close it up. One wheel is off in these photos.

I plant bare root trees, biggest so far are 10 foot tall. I have 50 trees on the planter in the barrels packed in wet mulch.

Once everything is hitched up, and the kids are running trees out to refill the planter, we can plant about 200/hour.

I am waiting for all the jokes of the JD pulling my New Holland. Go ahead. It is a lot easier to rent the JD than pay for a bigger tractor at this time.

If anybody has any ideas how to fertilize these trees (long narrow rows) let me know. I think liquid is going to be the easiest.

Stops my 45HP New Holland dead in its tracks. Hooking up an extra 85HP, works like a champ.
