Tooth bar mysteriously grows

I have replaced a bad bearing on the end of a tooth bar on a NH 56B rake. When putting it back together, I noticed that the bar had grown about 1/2 inch and will not line up with the mounting hole on the "star" of the rake. I repaired one a few years ago and had no trouble. I can"t remember how I did it. My age is rearing its ugly self. Please feel free to make suggestions as they will be greatly appreciated while they make me feel older!

Turn the bearing over???? This is a case where a second person looking over your sholder will see some thing so somple you'll laugh. Two people all ways better than one.

Nope fellas, this is a tricky piece. It comes out easy because the bad bearing lets the bolt slop around. When you get new tight bearings on both ends, it will _not_ fit back in due to the angles & geometry. A real mind blower when you come across it unexpectedly. Some models have rubber inserts, others you have to loosen all bearings from one star wheel and get them all put in at the same time, parallel.

Probably have a bar partially out of place on the other side, tilting the end..??? Could be at either end of the rake, too..
