I have a restored 100 spreader, the guy that restored it put in hex head bolts and nuts. Just the ones that hold the sheet metal sides in place. Could someone tell me if these are supposed to square head or carrige bolts.I'mm talking about the 1/4 inch ones, and also ,do the heads go on the outside or the inside of spreader box? thanks for any info.

The 100 series spreader was made from 1941 to 1955 with a total production of 55,347 units. It was the little brother to the model 200 that was built from 1940 to 1954. source 150 yrs of IH, C H Wendel. I have one and use it frequently...real nice, handy little spreader for small operations, like I have...(one hayburner)

I have 2 #200 ih spreaders i have restored one and plan on restoring the other. The newer one i already restored and has wood sides the older has steel sides which i am going to restore this summer.

I also have the model 100 spreader. I also have the same book. Very handy for answering questions. The model 100 is a 40 bushel spreader. If you put ag tires on it like the original did, the go on backwards from the tractor. That is, when the bars are on the top of the tire, they should be point to the rear. This is so the ground grips the tire to force it to turn and operate the spreader. My spreader is so old, the handles are on the sides and there is a bracket for mounting a seat on it.
