I am working on a 290 planter and i need the fertilizer boots, either split or side dress. Any idea where I can find them? I checked with serveral JD dealers and even had one do a search using the part numbers but no luck.

Did they search Part number AH 815 B? I've got a set of dealer parts manuals and thats the number for it. This number is for the whole thing - you might want to see if Parts Depot has them as well as have your dealer check and see which dealer (has them listed) in their intra-dealer system and call them and order it from them. Thats what the one guy does for me when I go buy parts for my FB.

I hope this helps.

I have checked with three dealers, two did searches for me with little success. I found one dealer that had a left side split boot mount but that was all.

Well, I remember that. The planter is complete with fertilizer hoppers and the tubes. I just need the boots. I am planting on using it to plant sweet corn and cotton. I have the the plates just no boots.
Maybe someone will find a set on an old barn...

Since you're dealing with a planter about 50 years old, the best bet might be to go to the parts book, interpolate dimensions, angles, etc., and weld something together to duplicate the worn parts.

Well it is to bad you can not find them ,I will bet that In Northern ILL. where I come from that in every other Farms out Bldgs or under old Corn Cribs there probably are many of these parts, slowly sinking into the dust. These boots were used on the 490 planter as well as the 290. I had both at one time or another and when Custom Spreading of Fertilizer became available ,well the Side dressing stopped And the Fert. Units were discarded. You probably will have to buy another Planter which is equipped with them instead of trying to find parts. Then again if someone knows what you are talking about maybe they will have a set in their Shed and would part with them. Good luck,
