I just got done doing the same thing at my house, myself. It"s not rocket science. You need a new tech and maybe a new service company. I think you are getting hosed. You have probably been sold a bunch of stuff you don"t need. Sammy is right - the first thing you need is to get all the excess software off your computer. Nothing else will go right until this is done. You can use Symantec"s website to run a spyware search and then delete everything that shows up in their search. You should not need a workgroup bridge or any other kind of bridge with that setup. A bridge is for hooking two separate networks together. The fast internet should come in through a modem which should have Cat 5e or Cat 6 output to a cable that plugs directly into the WAN port on the router. Your computer would have a network card which uses another Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable directly to a LAN port on the router. Once you get your computer running properly the router setup is fairly simple. Be careful to record the router WEP codes for setting up your wife"s wireless access. Your wife"s computer will have a wireless card which needs to have its WEP codes set so it will work with that wireless router. If you want your wife to be able to use the printer without the other computer turned on, you will need a print server. You can use a wired (from the router) or wireless (put the printer anywhere) print server. If you leave the printer hooked to your computer, your computer will have to be turned on for her to use the printer. Some wireless print servers include a bridge, but I still don"t think you need one.
