Looking at one of these are they good balers? I only have 20 acres of hay to do. I'm going to need to haul it home. How wide is it? Can I put it on a trailer or do I pull it home. It is 4 hours away. How heavy is it? Thanrks for any help

That is a little old of 20 acres. If you have good hay and a good year, you'll be looking at a few 1000 to 3500 bales . That bemay worth a better baler. But it maybe in good working order in work out ok. I would say no enghine, about a ton to 3000LBS. SHould look like a 68, 69 , 268 269 etc, if it looks like the S 77 it would be heavier.

I just happened to measure one I have forsale today 95" outside on the wheels. I towed it home at about 35-40 mph, 4 hours would be a long way though they hang out on the right quite a bit. Would be much better to trailer it for that distance, hope this helps....Jim

I used a 67 baler for many years. Generally a good baler, but you have to rake big windrows to keep from having banana bales. Even then you will get one side not packed good sometimes.

Re. hauling or pulling home. My baler had bushings in the wheels instead of bearings. I found this out the hard way when I was taking it home from the dealer. Wheel hubs started smoking. Had to go very slow, like 10 mph. Needed a grease gun badly. Solved the problem later by putting a car spindle on the heavy side. Will describe the process if you get baler and are interested. Haul it home if possible.

Do not have anything on the 68, but the 66 with a 15 HSP Wisconsin would have been about 25/2600 lbs. The Super 77 with a 24 HSP Wisconsin weighed 4525 from the factory. I have some sale brouchures on the 77 and 66 and a Operators manual and service parts catalog for the 66. Also a Wiconsin engine instruction book on the TE/TF The TE maxed at 11.2 HSP and the TF at 14.6 according to these books.
Hope this helps.

Yes, it was and I guess still is a good baler, but it is over 45 years old. I believe you should be able to haul it on a 102" wide truck or trailer, but if you use a 96", one wheel will have to hang off the side. As far as weight, somewhere around 3000LBS. Steve

Steve,

I just got my hands on a NH-68 with a Wisconson two-cylinder engine. Do you know the dimensions and weight for one of these old balers?

Thank You,

MACE
